There comes a phase in almost everyone’s life when our confidence level is buried down the ground, when even our existence becomes a question, when every step you take makes you doubt yourself. You lay on your bed and rewind all the things you ever did in life, and you will notice that only the unpleasant events keep coming back to you. And you start overthinking about them. The questions of ‘what if’ and ‘why’ crowds your mind, shatters your soul and you wish to erase them from your mind, but you are unable to do so. You feel like you have done too many mistakes, taken too many wrong decisions, chose too many wrong paths which has led you to this miserable state.
But take a while and think, in all these years, hasn’t there been a single thing that you did and had a positive impact in your life? Maybe you fed an underprivileged person on the street and their smile made you feel worthy and happy. Maybe you gave water to a stray dog. Maybe you helped a blind man to cross the road and he gave you his blessings. Maybe you helped your mother doing the household chores. Maybe you helped your father with one of his work thing. Maybe you had bought your sibling the toy or dress they have been longing for. When your best friend was heartbroken, it was you who showed up to her house. Maybe your text/call saved someone’s life. Maybe you were there for someone for whom no one else was there and they prayed for you silently. Someone out there prays for your kind act towards them, which you have no idea of.
We have made our mind in such a way that we keep playing the same cassette on repeat and accept the fact that this is how we are. But this is not how we are . Every person has both-negative and positive sides, and it is on us to keep it balanced. But the matter of fact is, none of us can really balance it because we, humans, highlight our mistakes and bury our good deeds. Our brain handles positive and negative emotions differently and we tend to focus more on our negative thoughts and events. Negative emotions involve more thinking, more questions, we process the thoughts more thoroughly. Hence, we tend to magnify the wrath of our negative days than the bloom of our happy and good days.
People always remember the bad things happening with them and it is okay to remember them but amidst all the bad stuffs, it is also equally important to remember the good things, which may not be a very big thing but at least that one tiny thing may have had made you smiled and everything that makes you smile is worth to remember and cherish forever.
